Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ FOR ADOPTERS

What is DOOGO PETS?

It is a platform that connects people who want to adopt a pet with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Independent Protectors who rescue and care for animals.

How do I find a pet?

You can use filters on the main screen, such as species (dog or cat), size, age, gender, and location, to find the ideal pet for you and your family.

How do I show interest in a pet?

To show interest, click the "I'm Interested" button. This will open a chat window for you to start a conversation and ask your questions directly to the NGO/Protector responsible for the animal.

Is the adoption process done through the app?

No. The app functions as the initial communication bridge, allowing you to open a direct chat with the NGO/Protector to clarify all your questions and exchange information. However, the selection and adoption process itself follows the criteria of each NGO/protector, who may request your contact information (such as phone or email) in the chat. To proceed with the process, they usually perform steps such as an interview, home visit, and filling out an Adoption Agreement, which may be done outside the platform.

Is there any cost to adopt?

NGOs/Protectors may request an adoption fee or contribution to help cover the costs of vaccines, dewormers, and spaying/neutering of the pet, which are mandatory and done before adoption. All costs involved must be clearly communicated by the NGO/Protector.

Are pets spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and dewormed?

Responsible NGOs and Protectors usually only make pets available for adoption after they are healthy and with spaying/neutering (if they are old enough), vaccination, and deworming up to date. Check the details on each pet's profile.

What should I do if the NGO doesn't respond?

Give a reasonable timeframe (e.g., 2 to 3 business days). If you don't receive a response, we suggest looking for other pets in the app or contacting our support team if you notice a pattern of lack of response from a profile.

FAQ FOR NGO/PROTECTOR

How do I register my NGO/myself as a Protector?

You need to register in the app, providing information such as name, location, and contact information. Your account will go through a brief verification before being activated.

What information and photos should I include in the pet's registration?

Include complete and honest information: species, breed, approximate age, size, gender, temperament (if they get along with children, other pets, etc.), health history (vaccines, spaying/neutering), and a description that tells the animal's story. Use good quality photos and a video that clearly shows the pet.

How am I notified about an interested party?

You will receive a notification in the app whenever a user clicks "I'm Interested" on one of your pet's profiles. The adopter's initial contact information will be made available for you to start the selection process.

Can I include the prerequisites for adoption?

Yes. We recommend that you use the pet's description field and/or the specific "Adoption Requirements" field to list your requirements (e.g., screened windows, living in a house without escape routes, etc.).

Is there any cost to use DOOGO PETS?

No, registration and use of the app are free for NGOs, Protectors, and adopters.
